The Franciscan Missionary Union is working on several new and exciting mission trips available in the fall of 2016 and Spring of 2017.
Kenya is one of the great destinations for travelers seeking a safari adventure. The Walk in My Shoes: Kenya Mission trip will not only offer you a chance to experience what life is like for over 1,000,000 people who live in the slums of Nairobi, it will also give you a chance to see the beauty and culture of this great country (and go on a day-long safari in one of Kenya’s world renowned National Parks). You’ll also experience first-hand what life is like in rural Kenya and see the unique and life-changing ministries of the friars in Lower Subukia.
In the Spring of 2017 the Franciscan Missionary Union will offer and thrilling opportunity to visit Southern India. The Walk in My Shoes: India Mission Trip will be a mixture of service to the poor in the slums of Kerala and Chennai, and an occasion to learn more about one of the world’s largest and oldest religions: Hinduism. As with all of our mission trips ample time will be provided to explore India’s exotic and beautiful cultures and see the good work of the Franciscan Friars.
Our Poverty Awareness Trip to Boston (offered in the Spring of 2017) will be a great opportunity to visit one of America’s oldest and unique cities, while coming face to face with the poor who live on the streets of Boston’s affluent Downtown Crossing and Financial District. This service oriented trip will enlighten you on what it means to be homeless and challenge your views on poverty as you work in the ministries of the Friars at Saint Anthony Shrine and other social service agencies in the downtown area that tend to the needs of the poor and mentally ill.
