For almost 90 years the Franciscan Missionary Union has provided support to Franciscan Missionaries of Holy Name Province in far away places such as China, Bolivia, Peru, Jamaica and Kenya, as well as places closer to home like our parishes in rural Georgia. Today, the Franciscan Missionary Union has embarked on some new and exciting endeavors in our ongoing effort to provide people of faith with opportunities to live out their call to mission in the 21st century. Our new endeavors include short term Mission Trips which offer individuals a chance to experience life in solidarity with the poor of South Africa, Cuba, and Washington, DC. We also offer a chance to become more deeply engaged in the issues that affect our world by learning more about Islam and early Christianity on our religious educational Mission Trips to Turkey, and through our Sister Parish initiative, where parishes in the developing world form relationships with parishes in the United States. To learn more about our priorities and how you can apply for a grant from the Franciscan Missionary Union take a look at our Grant Programs. We invite you to take some time to browse our new website and discover our priorities and learn how you can Support our efforts to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15).
